Project Update!
Lanark County is in the process of completing the Highway 43 addressing corrections. Residents can now expect to see updated address information reflected across municipal records. In additional positive news, the data correction has also been accepted by Google Maps, so residents should see changes in the next few weeks.
These updates will correct inconsistencies in how addresses along Highway 43 were recorded, helping to improve navigation, mail delivery and emergency response. The Lanark County OPP Detachment Board is a local police oversight body that provides advice and information to municipal councils on matters outlined in the Community Safety and Policing Act. It meets several times each year and works with the Lanark OPP Detachment to determine objectives and priorities for the community.
Because it aims to ensure work is representative of the communities it serves, the Board consists of a councillor from all eight local municipal councils:
▪ Beckwith
▪ Carleton Place
▪ Drummond/North Elmsley
▪ Lanark Highlands
▪ Mississippi Mills
▪ Montague
▪ Perth
▪ Tay Valley
It also includes two community member representatives jointly approved by the eight municipalities, along with two representatives appointed by the Province.
With the municipal election coming up this year, be sure to watch for postings related to community representation on the Board later this fall.
