Lanark County Warden Richard Kidd (Beckwith Reeve) has declared June to be Pride Month in Lanark County. The proclamation expresses Lanark County’s support for the rights of every citizen to experience equality and freedom from discrimination. “All people, regardless of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, genetic characteristics, or disability, have the right to be treated based on their intrinsic value as human beings.”
It states Lanark County accepts and welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and believes a diverse population leads to a more vibrant community, and that the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and + (2SLGBTQIA+) communities contribute to the cultural, civic, and economic successes of the Lanark County. “While our society is slowly embracing new definitions of sexuality and gender, we must also acknowledge that the need for education and awareness remains vital to end discrimination and prejudice.”
Lanark County is displaying the Progress Pride Flag, “representing light, healing, sun, calmness, art, and spirit,” in front of its administration building for the month of June to acknowledge the efforts to bring awareness to the continuing evolution of the 2SLGBTQIA+ Pride movement.
“I encourage our residents to reflect on the ongoing struggle for equality members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community face and to celebrate their contributions that enhance our county,” Kidd said. ... See MoreSee Less

Make a (safe) splash
Whether it’s in a pool, lake, splash pad, or river, water safety is key to preventing an emergency this summer!
Never leave a child unattended around water – even if they can swim.
To stay safe, avoid swimming at night or in stormy weather. Don’t dive in shallow pools and always enter water feet-first!

*NEW DATE ADDED*
Lanark County is developing a new Transportation Master Plan (TMP). Much has changed since the previous TMP in 2010, and so the County requires a new plan to guide investment, address challenges, and support safe, efficient and equitable mobility for residents and visitors.
The TMP study considers components of the transportation system under County jurisdiction, and focuses on improving mobility for residents and visitors across all modes: walking, cycling, transit, driving and goods movement. The outcome will be a plan that is both actionable and aligned with the County’s vision for the future.
We are gathering input about transportation-related needs and priorities in the County, and need your help to confirm our transportation vision and goals. Join us for one of three information-sharing sessions:
Monday June 15, 2026 – 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Conlon Farm Chalet: 125 Smith Drive, Perth
Tuesday June 16, 2026 – 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Beckwith Recreation Complex: 1319 9th Line Beckwith, Carleton Place
Saturday July 4, 2026 – 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
